| AH | The suffix of a Hijri date the reader returns, YYYY-MM-DD AH, converted downstream. |
| Assessment | The result of /assess: risk tolerance, capacity, compliance risk and suitability. |
| Band | The word for a score range, such as Balanced or Low. |
| Bearer key | The API key, sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>. |
| BO | Beneficial owner: a person who owns or controls 25 percent or more of an entity. The threshold is set by policy, up to 25. |
| CBCA | Canada Business Corporations Act. A CBCA corporation is federally incorporated and can be looked up at Corporations Canada. |
| Case | One client file in your workspace. Unique per workspace, environment and reference. |
| Check | One verification result with id, label, severity, passed and detail. |
| CIN | Moroccan national identity card number. |
| Completeness | The share of required data points present in values. A warning below 80 percent. |
| Critical | A check severity that blocks. A failed critical check makes passed false. |
| Document entry | One element of documents[] in an /extract answer. Sent back to /verify unchanged. |
document_id | Id of a stored document. Only with a reference. |
| eID | Remote identity verification: ID scan and selfie by the client. Canadian clients only. |
| Environment | sandbox or production. Chosen per call. |
| Extract | Reading a document into fields. POST /v1/kyc/extract. |
| FATF | Financial Action Task Force. Its public lists feed the geography points. |
| FINTRAC | Canada’s financial intelligence unit. A regime preset for Canadian reporting entities. |
| Flag | A failed check that needs a person: a failed critical or a failed warning. |
| Grace period | The time a rotated key keeps working. 0 to 168 hours. |
| HIO | Head of an international organization. Asked together with PEP in Canada. |
kind | Client kind: individual, corporation, partnership, charitable_org, trust, estate. |
| KYB | Know your business: verification of an entity. |
| KYC | Know your customer: verification of a person. |
| Lock | A policy item that a request cannot turn off, such as sanctions screening. |
| MRZ | Machine readable zone of a passport or ID card, with check digits. |
| OFAC, OSFI, UN | The sanctions sources in the daily bundle: US Treasury SDN list, Canada’s OSFI list and the UN consolidated list. |
| PEP | Politically exposed person. |
| Policy | The workspace’s rules for a client kind and environment: thresholds, locks, required documents. Edited in the console. |
| Provenance | What a file says about how it was made: software, edits, dates. |
| Reader | The vision model that turns a document image into fields. |
reader_unavailable | True when a file was never read because of a problem on Sahl’s side. |
| Reference | Your id for the client, 1 to 64 characters. It ties calls to one case. |
| Request id | The X-Request-ID header. Quote it to Sahl. |
| Scope | A permission on a key: kyc:extract, kyc:verify, kyc:eid. |
| SDN | Specially Designated Nationals list (OFAC). |
| Severity | critical, warning or info. |
| Specimen | A sample or template document. Caught by authenticity:specimen:. |
| Step key | Your stable name for an upload step, which decides which document types it accepts. |
| Suitability | The sentence the assessment gives, such as Suitable. A read-out, not a determination. |
| Verdict | The result of /verify: passed, checks, flags and completeness. |
| Webhook | A signed HTTP POST Sahl sends to your server when a call finishes. |
